In the book The Slight Edge by Jeff Olson, we learn of the water hyacinth and its amazing ability to propagate. The same ability is available to every business if it understands clearly what it needs to do and how to do it. Yet so many people choose another path when starting their own business.

The introduction to the Slight edge is based on some reflections by the Author on what could have been for a particular Shoeshine Lady. He wonders about the choices she made, her life and ambitions.
